My name is Jan Stanbury and I have now been in travel for 26 years.

I first started at Courtney World Travel in 2007 so will have been with the company for 19 years in February 2026. I have never looked back!

Since joining as a travel consultant I have over the years been promoted to supervisor and now assistant manager.

Being an independent travel agency it means we can book through our specialist tour operators to find the right holiday for every customer.

As my role is so varied, no two days are the same and it gives me some much job satisfaction. You literally feel like you travel the world every single day!

One day you can be looking at a UK coach holiday and the next planning an around the world trip or a special holiday.

We also specialise in cruises, escorted tours, weddings and of course dream honeymoons!

Since joining Courtney World Travel, I have been very fortunate to have travelled extensively on educational trips along with my own personal holidays.

Destinations include Mauritius, South Africa, Morocco, Antigua, Bermuda, Bahamas, Canada, Spain, Sorrento, Venice, Germany, Greek Islands, Sri Lanka Thailand – Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khao Lak and Koh Samui.

I have been fortunate to have been on 3 Riviera River Cruises. I can highly recommend a river cruise as the ships are so much smaller than an ocean cruise.

There's nothing nicer than sitting on the sun deck enjoying the beautiful scenery passing by. Think fairy tale castles, old churches and on the Moselle and Rhine cruise, the backdrop of vineyards which appear to go on for miles?

This September I was fortunate to go with a friend to Venice and absolutely loved it! We stayed in a central hotel which was literally a 5 minute walk from St Marks Square.

Such a beautiful city and even though we were only there for 3 nights we visited St Marks Basilica, took a boat ride to Murano & Burano and of course had to experience the gondola ride!
